My Philosophy

WELCOME!

First and foremost, I see you as a person, not just a set of teeth.

I want to teach you to take such good care of your teeth, that you BARELY need me. My staff and I spend a great deal of time on patient education, making sure that YOU can clean your teeth at home - as well as we clean our teeth at home.

I want you to love and be proud of your smile. I have had the pleasure of so dramatically changing people’s smiles that they blossom into CONFIDENCE.

I want you to be so comfortable while you’re here, that you feel like you’re with friends. (That is actually why I chose to have my practice in this lovely, 150 year old, Victorian home.)

I absolutely adore working with children. I find them fascinating and entertaining. I almost turn into a Disney character while working on them, because if I entertain them, and work quickly, they don’t realize that I did anything! (This ability to distract also comes in handy when adults have a true fear of dentists.). I have actually had children stop in my office, on their way home from school, because they have a dental problem. I then have to explain that we have to call Mommy and Daddy because “they need to know where you are”!

I had headaches almost every day for over 20 years. No one could find the problem. I had a strong suspicion that it was due to the way my teeth came together, (my bite), DESPITE having braces three times. I saw 3 “specialists” that only made my headaches worse. I finally took extensive training in “occlusion”, (how teeth and joints should function in harmony), and fixed my own bite and got rid of my own headaches. I treat a lot of headache patients successfully because I legitimately know how you feel and I have the knowledge and training to access the cause and/or causes. YOU benefit from my pain.

I often spend a great deal of time discussing nutrition, general medical wellness, and emotional well-being. I also have a Master in Homeopathic Medicine. If you have questions, I have resources - I will help you find information and referrals.

I have also had the misery of diagnosing multiple cases of oral cancer. I am with you every step of the way. I have gone to many appointments WITH patients, to be their advocate, ensuring that you get the best possible care and treatment. I have medical oncologists that specialize in oral/head and neck cancer in my contacts on my phone. I know them - they know me. As a result of the cases that I have diagnosed, I am EXTRA careful and diligent when doing my head and neck cancer exam. When you find cancer so many times, it makes you hypervigilant because you really know and understand the consequences
